Manuel began his musical interests early, listening to Gabriel Parra (“Los Jaivas” drummer) since he was 5 years old. In a self-taught way he leans toward this musical instrument at the age of 15 years old.

Since 1991, he has integrated and participated in several musical bands, exploring different styles, characterized by his versatility and creativity.

Is in 1996 that he begins his approach to jazz, with the Universidad Metropolitana’s “Big Band”, style which he will be related since then. Exerting a strong influence on his career.

He enters in 1994 at the Pontificia Universidad de Catolica de Chile and study a Bachelor in Music, specializing in percussion. In parallel, he takes training courses and private drums lessons with Christian Hirth. At the same time he participates in workshops with percussionists and composers as Ney Rosauro y Gary Cook, among others.

In the course of his career, the opportunity to approach to folklore shows up when he becomes part of the Chilean National Folkloric Orchestra as their drummer, where he highlights with a remarkable participation in “Festival Del Huaso De Olmué.

That experience, in addition to his musical trajectory, works has inspiration to publish in 2008 his book “Metodo De Batería Del Sur” (Drums Method from the South Of The world. Which is a record of folkloric rhythms applied to drumming, where he delivers tools to perform “Ritmos Candenciosos” (Hot Rhythms) with a focus on the technical area. And is because of his book that he is invited to countries like Mexico an Argentina.

Nowadays Manuel makes tuition and teach in several institutions, he works as a session musician as well, venturing into jazz style as stable drummer of the Universidad Católica de Chile’s Big Band, also is a member of “New Jazz Trio” Band, and he is working on his first solo album where his compositions, knowledge and musical skills highlights.
